This course deals specifically with assessing the risk to, and from, adult mental health patients.

It has filled a wide gap in the market! Training in this area is NOT WIDELY AVAILABLE. We aren't aware of any other on-line training resource covering Psychiatric Risk Assessment of Patients.

It is thought that 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems in their lifetime. It is important for ALL clinicians to be familiar with the principles of risk assessment to enable them to carry out a basic risk assessment. This course should give you sufficient understanding of risk assessment to enable you to do this.

In these days of Medical Defensive Practise, we as clinicians need to ensure that all decisions are transparent and clearly documented, should the need arise to defend them in a Court of Law. Nowhere is this more important than in Psychiatric Risk Assessment.

This newly developed training tool is both a teaching aid and a reference guide. It combines practical examples of various aspects of psychiatric risk assessment, with multiple choice questions and answers to assist with risk assessment and the formulation of a risk management plan.

Practical demonstrations of the techniques of risk assessment can be viewed from any point of internet access, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist clinicians in their patient consultation to carry out a clinical risk assessment.

This means clinicians can log on to the material at any time day or night to access the guide when required to complete a risk assessment and formulate a risk management plan for a particular patient.

The course contains detailed tutorials, videos of mock-interviews and multiple-choice questioning, further enhanced by scored marking, model answers and analyses of results. Each user has their own login so that progress and scores can be saved.

This course is of particular interest to Psychiatrists, but also to GPs or other clinicians working in primary or acute care. The risk management examples use inpatient scenarios but the principle can be applied to any setting.
